The Neil Diamond Experience- Rip It Up Magazine Review
Marcellina’s – Bebe’s Room, Sat Mar 2nd 2013

It was standing room only as I squeezed through the crowded bar and there was genuine anticipation in the air as Antonio Villano and his band kicked into Crunchy Granola Suite. However it wasn’t until the ballads Love On The Rocks and I Am I Said that one could appreciate the remarkable vocal likeness of the two singers.

Holly Holy was the centre piece of this 1 hour showcase, ebbing and flowing with a powerful pulse. Solitary Man saw a break out of spontaneous dancing at the bar. I’m A Believer featured some tasty keyboard fills and by the time of the finale Sweet Caroline it had all become too much for the seated, tabled toe-tappers and there was a rush for the dance floor. Full credit also goes to Kate Lara who sang her heart out on backing vocals. Only a cynic could resist the emotional heart of these great songs and Villano has done Neil Diamond no disservice tonight.
Final Word: Infectious.
